The Pune City police have beefed up security with over 6,000 personnel to maintain order during the Ganesh immersion processions. Traffic changes and road closures have already begun and will continue until the festivities wrap up on Wednesday. Heavy vehicles are banned on both Tuesday and Wednesday to ensure smooth traffic flow.
As for the weather, Pune is expected to have mostly dry conditions with a cloudy sky on Tuesday. There may be some light rain in certain areas, but it shouldn’t dampen the spirits of those participating in the Ganesh Visarjan procession starting at Laxmi Road at 9 am.
The Manache Ganpati, consisting of five significant Ganesh Mandals in Pune, will play a key role in the immersion procession. Starting with a pooja at Shri Kasba Ganpati Mandal on Tuesday morning, the procession will continue through the other four Manache Ganpati.
Pune police have issued prohibitory orders against high-intensity light beams, loud sound systems, and flying drones without prior authorization. Extra personnel from Pune Rural police and Pimpri Chinchwad police have been deployed to ensure safety.
In order to comply with sound pollution norms set by the Supreme Court of India and the National Green Tribunal, Pune city police have urged Ganesh mandals to avoid using loud music equipment during the immersion procession. Violators will face strict legal action as per a press release by Deputy Commissioner of Police G Shridhar.
Pune Traffic Police have designated parking areas for vehicles of attendees coming to central parts of Pune City for the immersion processions. Additionally, 17 arterial roads in the city center will be closed in phases to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festivities.
